About Vincent Kostiw:
Vincent has successfully represented clients in matters related to civil litigation, business formation, corporate counsel, mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property, entertainment, new media, financial securities regulation and exemptions from registration, import/export, manufacturing and technology licensing.
Mr. Kostiw has written articles and given presentations on topics such as Internet domain names as trademarks, photography and image rights, copyright pre-registration, new business formation, series limited-liability companies, financial securities law and SEC compliance, trademark law, copyright law, and obscenity laws. Mr. Kostiw is a contributing editor of the Communiqué, the official publication of the Clark County Bar Association, and is also a member of the American Bar Association's Advisory panel. Because of his professional abilities and background in the entertainment businesses he has often been referred to as the "Rock Star Lawyer" in the press.
In a non-legal capacity, Mr. Kostiw has been actively involved in the entertainment businesses and has been a voting member of the Recording Academy; the automotive business related to auto racing, repair and customization, his name was entered into the Honor Roll at the Automotive Hall of Fame in Dearborn, Michigan; and is also an active, often published, professional photographer in his spare time, with a stong interest in motorsports such as NHRA Professional Drag Racing and NASCAR. Internet Domain Names as Trademarks.
Registering and using a domain name is easy, just be the first person to register it, or purchase the registration rights from someone else. As long as you pay your registration fee each year you can use the domain name as you wish, provided you are not breaking the law or infringing on another’s rights. However, using a domain name in commerce to the point that it can receive federal trademark registration is not so easy, and in some cases not possible.
